Getting Started with Your Planner

There are a variety of ways your Jasper App Planner can support you during your cancer care—from centralizing important aspects of your treatment, like appointments and medications, to tracking how you feel day to day. Below, you’ll find an overview of the various sections in your Planner and how to get started with each.

Appointments

From visits with your oncologist and various specialists to appointments with dietitians, counselors, and more, cancer comes with an array of appointments in need of scheduling. Here’s how to add them to your Planner:

  1. Scroll down to the “Appointments” section.
  2. Select the “+” icon on the right side, across from the section title.
  3. You should now see the option to add a custom Appointment or to select a pre-set Appointment. If you see what you’d like to add, select it. If you don’t see what you’d like to add, select “Add Custom Appointment” at the top of this section.
  4. Now, add any details about this appointment that you’d like. This might include the day, time (and whether it’s recurring), location, and any relevant notes.
  5. Finally, select the “Add Appointment” button at the bottom of the screen to save and add this to your Planner.

TIP: If you’re using our mobile app, you can sync your Planner Appointments with your calendar app by navigating to the Profiles tab and then selecting “Calendar” under the Apps & Devices section.

Medication Schedule

The Medication Schedule helps you to keep track of your medications and supplements and ensure that you take them according to your healthcare team’s instructions. Here’s how to add what you’re taking to your Planner:

  1. Scroll down to the “Medication Schedule” section.
  2. Select the “+” icon on the right side, across from the section title.
  3. You should now see a prompt to link your medication to a treatment. If applicable, select which treatment this medication is related to, or select “Not sure or not treatment-related” to continue.
  4. Now, search for your medication name. You can search by either a brand name or a generic name. If a drug exists in our system, you should see it appear as an option to select below. If you don’t see a pre-set option, you can always select the result at the top titled “Custom Name” and then add the name of your medication or supplement.
  5. Next, on the Form & Dose tab, select the correct options or add a custom form and dose using the “Other Form” option. Select the “Next” button to continue.
  6. On the Schedule tab, you can add details like whether you’re taking this medication currently, when you started it, and when you expect it to end. Most importantly, you can set the frequency of when you take this medication and you should also always feel free to add a note with any special instructions. Select the “Next” button to continue.
  7. Lastly, on the Reminders tab, you can choose options for how and when to receive a reminder to take this medication. When you’re done, select the “Add Medication” button to the bottom of the screen to save and add this medication to your Planner.

You should now see your medication or supplement in the Medications Schedule section in the Planner. When the hour you usually take the supplement or medication comes, you should see options to mark it “Taken,” “Skipped,” or “Reschedule it for another time.” Note: if you do not actively mark a medication using one of these options, it will be marked as “Missed”—however, you can always edit this!

TIP: Medications will also appear under the Medical section of the app. If you added a medication that you haven’t started taking yet—or one that you have previously taken—you’ll see these medications here instead of on your current Medications Schedule in your Planner.

    Daily Tracker

The Daily Tracker allows you to easily track your mood, symptoms, side effects, and other biometric data like blood pressure, temperature, weight, and heart rate. You can also integrate your Fitbit and/or Apple Health apps to add your daily step count and sleep. Tracking this information can help you provide a clear, thorough, and accurate picture of your well-being to your healthcare team. Once you’ve tracked three times, the Daily Tracker displays “Insights” in the form of trends and also allows you to create a custom report to share. Here’s how to add items to your Daily Tracker:

    1. Scroll down to the “Daily Tracker” section.
    2. Now, choose which item you’d like to track—or select “Track All Now.”
    3. Select the appropriate options and/or add the relevant values for each item, selecting the “Next” or “Done” button after each.
    4. You’ll now see the items you’ve tracked in the Daily Tacker section. You can always select any of these tracked items to edit them. Or select the “+” icon on the right side to track again.
    5. After tracking three times, select the “Insights” toggle at the top of the section to view your most tracked items and recent trends.

Note: You customize elements of your Daily Tracker by selecting the “gear” icon on the top right side of the Daily Tracker section, across from the section title. You can always choose which items to show by default, choose which units to use for each (e.g. °F vs. °C), and set a reminder to track every day.

    To-Dos

Keeping up with your everyday needs can reduce stress and help promote a better quality of life. We recommend keeping track of all the things you need to do or remember as they relate to your life with cancer—both big and small. TIP: Select the “View All Recommended” button to browse our collection of ways to manage your day-to-day care, some of which your healthcare team may not think to mention.

What kinds of things do you need to do or take into consideration as part of your care? Here’s how to add them to your Planner:

    1. In your Planner, scroll down to the “To-Dos” section.
    2. Select the “+” icon on the right side, across from the section title.
    3. You should now see the option to add a custom To-Do or to select a pre-set To-Do. If you see what you’d like to add, go ahead and select it. If you don’t see the type of to-do you’d like to add, select the words “Add Custom To-Do” at the top of this section to create a custom to-do.
    4. Next, you can add any details about this To-Do, such as a day, time, if it’s recurring, and any relevant notes. TIP: on the Assign tab, you can also assign this To-Do for someone else on your Care Team to complete.
    5. When you’re done adding these details, select the “Add To-Do” button at the bottom of the screen to save and add this To-Do to your Planner.

      Notes & Documents

We know it can be helpful to have a central location for the various notes you take and documents you receive throughout your cancer care. With the Notes & Documents section, you can collect any written or photo-based document—whether that’s clinical documentation, insurance cards, prescriptions, bills, etc. Don’t worry: these are all securely stored on our HIPAA-compliant platform.

What information do you need to keep handy? Here’s how to add notes and documents to your Planner:

      1. In your Planner, scroll down to the “Notes & Documents” section.
      2. Select the “+” icon on the right side, across from the section title.
      3. You should now see the option to add a Note or Document. If you’re on a mobile device, you will also see the option to take a photograph directly with your camera.
      4. Follow the prompts to add a title and description for your Note or Document and then select the “Add” or “Upload” button.

TIP: Notes added within other sections of the Planner will always appear here as well. So, if you added a note to your Oncology Appointment from two weeks ago, you’ll be able to easily find it here instead of digging back through your past Appointments.

Undergoing treatment for cancer is challenging, physically, emotionally and logistically. It’s important to note that there’s no one “right” way to use your Planner, but we hope you find that it helps to ease some of these challenges. If you ever need assistance, please reach out to us using the support email below and we’d be happy to help.
