Meet Michele
Michele was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma in 2017 and, after five years of being cancer-free, had a recurrence in 2023. Adjusting to her new normal was Michele’s top concern when she came to Jasper. Michele was matched with Sara, one of Jasper’s supportive care guides.

How Jasper helped
Sara and Michele began by focusing on nutrition: “We talked a lot about healthy strategies for eating, like making sure that I had small meals during the day. When I was finishing up with a cycle of medicine, my blood count would be really low, so I needed more protein and rest. And if I needed to rest, I couldn’t beat myself up about it.”
While Michele leaned heavily on family during her first course of treatment, she turned to Jasper while undergoing treatment following the recurrence of her cancer.
“Sara helped coach me through the first year of my diagnosis and medications and navigating side effects, how I felt, and what I could do to support myself. She was my biggest cheerleader and a real source of strength and compassion.”
